Valley FiberCom is the newly formed division of Valley Communications to provide service in the town of Volga, SD and surrounding communities.
Valley Communications’ headquarters office is based in Herreid, SD and is owned by the parent company, Valley Telecommunications Cooperative Association, Inc.
As with any utility, having the most capable and reliable infrastructure provides more value to the community and its residents. Connecting Volga, Arlington, Lake Preston, De Smet, and surrounding rural areas with fiber brings big benefits. Having the option for this much network capacity attracts businesses that require large amounts of bandwidth for their operations. This may be the same case for residential customers. Customers continually need additional bandwidth in their homes – whether it’s for entertainment purposes or a work-from-home scenario, fiber provides increased reliability. This fiber investment prepares us all for what’s to come in the future.
No! Valley FiberCom’s parent company, Valley Telecommunications, has been providing Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) in north central South Dakota since 2010. In April 2016, Valley Telecommunications was deemed a 100% fiber network and in August of 2016, Valley Telecommunications was recognized by NTCA (The Rural Broadband Association) as a Certified Gig Capable provider.
Valley FiberCom will continue to follow in the footsteps of Valley Telecommunications in delivering FTTH to those in under-served areas.
Valley FiberCom is pleased to provide Broadband Internet, Digital TV Service, Landline Telephone, Safety & Security Services, and more to our customers in the Volga, SD area.
Valley FiberCom will begin construction within the town of Volga in the Spring of 2019. Prior to the construction, our staff will be busy obtaining the proper permits and easements, and working with our project engineers in developing the construction plans.
