Valley FiberCom – Customer Service & Sales Representative – De Smet, SD and Flandreau, SD
Valley FiberCom is currently taking applications for two open positions as Customer Sales & Service Representative, which will remain open until filled. These positions will report to our Customer Service Center, one of which is in DeSmet, SD, and one in Flandreau, SD.
Essential Job Functions
- Promotes and sells services to new and existing customers. Increases the sale and use of company equipment and services by implementing adopted marketing plan and strategies.
- Maintain customer records.
- Provides customer service by assisting customers with billing inquiries, new service requests, service plan changes, disconnects, reconnects, and service questions and concerns. Accurately completes appropriate paperwork for service plan changes and disconnects.
- Completes credit checks on new customers.
- Receives payments from customers, posts payments to appropriate accounts, prepares bank deposits, and issues receipts as requested.
- Performs a variety of day-to-day customer billing activities and preparation of various billing reports.
- Verifies directory listings prior to printing the new directory.
- Remote trouble ticket resolution and trouble ticket creation.
- Performs end of day processes of 911 Intrado & CPNI letters.
- Performs daily data base customer information changes.
- Completes customer domain set up and renewals.
- Maintains relationship with telephone directory publisher & bills for directory foreign listings. Oversees compilation and publishing of telephone directory. Establishes and maintains positive relationship with directory publisher to ensure directory needs are met.
- Processes all PIC change requests and mails customer a letter stating change and charges.
- Performs all other duties assigned by management. *

Valley Telecommunications Cooperative – Network Specialist – Herreid, SD or Volga, SD
Valley Telecommunications is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Network Specialist. The position will have you work out of our Herreid or Volga offices in South Dakota.
Primary Responsibilities
• Calix provisioning and troubleshooting
• IPTV maintenance and troubleshooting
• Routing and Switching
• Hosted PBX maintenance and troubleshooting
• Managing and documenting configuration changes and network architectures
• Applying and upholding general Cybersecurity standards and best practices
Candidates should be able to manage time efficiently while effectively undertaking a variety of projects simultaneously. Willingness to learn and a positive attitude will be critical to success in this role.
Necessary Capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication across various platforms (email, phone, reports, etc.)
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency across general Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to describe technical information to non-technical individuals
Education & Background
A bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Network Security, or related field is required. Preference is given to individuals with certifications (Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.). The ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of OSP fiber designs and principles as well as a basic understanding of TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, VLAN, etc.
